Norbert Cyrus, PhD
Norbert Cyrus studied Social and Cultural Anthropology, Sociology and Philosophy. He received his PhD 2008 from Carl-von-Ossietzky-University for his analysis of contemporary processes of labour migration from Poland to Germany. After employments at University Oldenburg, Hamburg Institute for Social Research (HIS) and University Bremen he is since 2017 Senior Researcher at European University Viadrina. He worked as expert for International Organisations (ILO, Worldbank) and national institutions (e.g. Federal Ministry for Labour, Federal Expert Commission for Migration) and civil organisations (e.g. Diakonie Hamburg, German Trade Union DGB). His research topics include temporary labour migration, civic participation of immigrants, measures against trafficking in human beings.
