Lidia Zessin-Jurek, PhD
Lidia Zessin-Jurek holds a PhD in History from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, where she defended her comparative thesis on the development of Polish and Italian ideas of nationhood. She has been awarded various competitive grants to carry on her postdoctoral project, among others by the Imre-Kertesz Kolleg, European Holocaust Research Infrastructure, Fordham University and New York Public Library.
Lidia currently resides in Frankfurt/Oder, where she is working on her project about the memory culture of the Polish-Jewish exiles to the USSR. Her cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Polish Studies includes also teaching – a general introduction to the memory studies and a more detailed analysis of the main challenges to the Holocaust and Gulag remembrance practices (in cooperation with The Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University).
