Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Polenstudien (ZIP)
Academic Research Fellow

I combine academic research and work with students in my professional activities. In a broad sense, I deal with language development and change. My area of expertise are Slavic languages and descriptive grammar, with a particular concentration on Polish and West Slavic connections. My dissertation research at UC Berkeley evolved around the development and use of secondary predication in Polish. Afterwards, I widened the scope of my interests to the sociolinguistic aspects of language change. I offer courses and supervise BA and MA theses in English, German and Polish, in descriptive linguistics, sociolinguistics, language policy, applied linguistics, translation as well as at interfaces between linguistics and politics, sociology or literature.
